EDU 390 -YMCA Site Supervisor: As I Site Supervisor, I have worked with several children and families that come from various backgrounds, ability levels, and socioeconomic statuses. -Special Olympics: I have had the opportunity to play along side both youth and adults with a range of special needs. EDU 367 -Through this class I was able to learn about several cultures, that will be represented within the students in my classroom. -I participated in Market Place for Kids. -We video chatted with Mr. Anton Treuer, a famous Native American author. EDU 392 -I had the opportunity to learn about and visit Life Education, State Hospital, Anne Carlson Center in Jamestown, Pride, Hit, Youth Correctional Center, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, South Central High School, and Youth Works. Emerging Leaders Academy -No Excuses University: Pen Pals -Professional Mentorship: My professional Mentor was Rebecca Parisien, a special education teacher at BECEP. I learned about BECEP and had the opportunity to take part in various experiences their. Family Mentorship -I had an awesome experience being partnered up with a family, with two children who have special needs, and welcomed into their home to experience what life is like for them. This is such a vital perspective to see as an educator. Pride, Inc. -I am currently working as a Youth Mentor at Pride. Being a Youth Mentor has provided me the opportunity to work with children in their homes, as well as within the community, who come from all types of backgrounds and have various needs.
